Ok, so normally I absolutely love my food and I eat at least three meals a day. However, since finishing college for the year, I've totally lost my appetite. I'm working about 25 hours a week in a pub kitchen, not particularly stressful, and although I do snack there, it never used to make me sick if I ate a meal afterwards. Now I feel that if I eat more than a sandwich I will be sick. Is it just a phase or are there reasons for not being hungry? Thanks x

I used to do cooking in pub kitchen and I found that the sight of all the food used to make me feel sick. This was many years ago now when we ran a pub.In those daysI had to cook everything from scratch. I found when I was off work ,eg on holiday I would eat normally.I don't think you have anything wrong.I used to find the smell and sight of the food would make me feel full up.I even get this now For example when I cook a Sunday lunch for my family ,by the time I get it all on the table I'm sick of the sight and smell of it and lose my appetite.Plus sometimes when you are busy like that you sort of "go past" eating and snack on the wrong things which makes your blood sugar low and this can make you feel sickly.
Also an increase in stress can cause the production of stomach acid that would cause you indegestion and a sickly feeling, but I suggest if you continue your illness to consult your G.P.
Hi Bex, I went through something similar a while ago, for no apparent reason I went completely of my food I would sit down to something have a couple of forkfulls then put the rest in the bin.  It lasted for a few weeks and I lost more than half a stone in weight! Eventually I went to the doctor and after a couple of tests it was discovered that I had picked up a tummy bug.  A course of antibiotics followed then I felt fine, just mentioning this as you are working with food!
for  18 years I was a chef, got to a point where the thought of eating made me feel sick and the hungrier I got the worse I felt, then on my days off I used to binge on rubbish, since leaving the catering trade I started eating properly, its probably the enviroment, try not to snack at work, and eat breakfast,it really does make a difference..
