Can anybody please tell me which is correct:

EMPHYSEMA.......or

EMPHYSEMIA.

Both versions are listed on Google in reference to lung disease and even folk who are suffering from it seem confused.

The first is correct, no I.

That's also the spelling I use.

google gives 2,444,000 emphysemas and 1,580 emphysemias, which is a pretty good guide to the right spelling.

First is correct, i lost my Mum to this dreadfull illness, made me give up smoking
