What has happened to BBC1 and ITV i thought it was supposed to be school holidays and we've got the same crap on that we always have like under the hammer, cash in the attic, and bargin hunt. Ok This morning i can handle when Phillip and Fern are on there but as for the two twits that are there for the holidays i cant take it. What are the kids supposed to do i thought this was their time and nothing has changed. We have sky so we have kids stuff on but what about the kids that dont? I think its bloody awful that this is what we pay for, when i was young there would be stuff on from early in the morning and i would be totally entertained all through the summer hols. What do you think?

i agree that programming should be altered in the hols but i too remember summer hols as a child and i think you'll find that it wasnt half as entertaining as you remember !

roland rat,why dont you, timmy mallett...the list goes on for me !

What ages are we talking about here? If they're teens, you could try Channel 4. Bit of a sore point with me at the moment because of what's missing, but they do at least seem to realise the school hols have started. King of Queens - gone. Will & Grace - gone. Frasier - gone. Third Watch - gone. Instead, they have something called The O.C. I think kids (older ones at least) like that. It'll keep 'em quiet for an hour, anyway. Then, unless there's a test match on, I think they have some more T4 stuff.

To paraphrase Green Day, wake me up when September starts. Bah. Snort. Grump.

Thanks for the repleys, my son is 8yrs old so things like The OC are not for him and i know the programmes were'nt that grand when we were younger but at least it was stuff for kids. Looks like i'll be renting DVDs out all summer!
I agree, BBC is still aimed at adults and as for denise and richard hosting this morning...what a disaster!!!! i remember my school holidays, i used to watch Why Dont You! i loved that. the BBC used to put kids prgrammes on all morning with an old film or something, Digby the giant dog, herbie etc old classics. i have sky so luckily my kids watch the movie channels as they have lots of kids movies during the day.

Ah, I remember the good old days... Saved by the bell, why don't you etc... they were the best!  Hopefully the kids tv will start kicking in by next week.

go and play outside...that's what kids used to do, isn't it?

What on the main road, do you have kids?
Ah yes, butter1. I'm a bit older than you, but I remember stuff like The Banana Splits, Scooby Doo (the proper pre-Scrappy version), Skippy The Bush Kangaroo, Tarzan, Daktari (a personal favourite) and old re-runs of Laurel and Hardy shorts and Champion The Wonder Horse. Proper kids' telly. Eek. Showing my age :-)

Never could stand Why Don't You? though. Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set And Go And Do Something Less Boring Instead? Oh. Ok then. *click*

(Sorry for hijacking your thread, alli mac, but you know what old farts like me are like when we start reminiscing!)

no in a park or something! or in the main road if you prefer...

no, i don't have kids. i need to find someone to help me make them first.

Ahh yesh, Double Deckers, Casie Jones, Heidi, White Horses, The Singing Ringing Tree (WTF?), Robinson Crusoe, Tarzan (inc. Cheeta), Banana Splits with "natives" who had skeletons painted on their bodies, The badly dubbed 3 Muscateers...
Monkey Magic....that's another one, used to love that but also found it scary!  It's a shame telly isn't what it used to be like.
