Doe anyone knoe how much sleep someone is supposed to need per night? I seem to need between 9 and 10. Is this normal, and is it possible to have too much sleep per night?

I too need about 9 or 10 hours but only get that long at weekend.  I have heard people say that it is possible to get too much sleep, but personally believe this is a myth put about by all those people who only need 4 or 5 hours a night - god how do they cope on that amount of zzzzzzz's

I would love to have 9-10 hours unbroken sleep a night, but only manage 5-6. I had an horrendous nights sleep last night & was awake on the hour every hour - I feel like a zombie this morning!

The norm is supposed to be about 8 hours sleep each night. It's certainly possible to have too much sleep. When it happens to me I usually feel worse than I do when I've had too little.

I feel at my best when I have 9 hours sleep a night.
I need about that much sleep per night, although I never seem to get it. I always have problems waking up in the morning. I don;t know if it is possible to have too much sleep - I have never seemed to manage it! Even at weekends when I can have a lie in I always seem to wake up when I have had enough - i don't think i could stay asleep if I didn't need it.

I'm a good sleeper, never wake up in the night, and usually need a minimum 7.5/8 hours, though if im not getting up early I usually get about 10 hours. I can sleep 13 hours, but don't feel great the next day. 

There was actually a study done a few years ago that found a link between people sleeping for longer each night and dying younger. They didn't know why, and probably wasn't really accurate.  Apparantly though, people who sleep more have better memories, in which case, mine should be great!....er...what was the original question again..?

10 hours is too long.

7 hours uninterupted is enough for most people.

I only need about 4 -5!  Any more than that and my body wakens me up!

 

I used to worry about this until I read somewhere that you can get by on 4 hours a night, any more than that does you good but is not essential
