Many years ago I read a series of books written by a woman I think during the earlier part of the 20th Century about her alleged past lives. One I think was as an Egyptian priest or priestess. She also wrote a book about her present life and how she discovered her ability to see into both her past lives, and also the history of inanimate objects which she held. I know it's a very long shot, but does anyone know the author, and whether the books are still in print? Thanks

The woman who fell over in erm around 1906 and woke up and realised that she was the reincarnation of a priestess was real. She went out and lived in the shade of Seti's temple.....in ?Abydos for at least 50 years. She was known colloquially as Umm Seti (= Mother of Seti)

She was still there when I visited in 1978 (!). And the beeb made a prog about her in around 1980 -called I think, Umm Seti or was it Priestess from the Past ?

She was OK apart from thinking that she was a priestess. I got into a bit of misunderstanding with my monuments pass - [which was not powerful enough because it wasnt signed by the then Min of Culture Victor Ghirgiz, but by an underling] and was told, Oh you should have said, aaiz ashuuf umm seti !       { I wanna see Um Seti! } and SHE would have sorted them out.....

Question Author
Thanks for your answer Peter Pedant. I have since found out that the books I was looking for were written by Joan Grant and included "The Winged Pharoah" and "The Eyes of Horus" amongst others along with her autobiography which was something like "Far Memory".

I will be reading more on Um Seti however, so thanks for that.
