Does anyone know if you need an international driving licence to hire a car for a couple of days in Turkey, or will a full British driving licence do?

thanks

According to Hertz an IDP is recommended but not mandatory

According to the RAC an IDP is not needed for a stay of less than 3 months

According to the FCO an IDP is mandatory

I suppose the above is not necessarily contradictory if the FCO advice is aimes at expats rather than visitors.
