Nobody has said fridges and freezers should last 5 years or more. If that was so there would be a statutory requirement that they come with 5 year guarantees and selling extended warranties would be illegal.
You have 6 years in England and Wales to bring a case before the court under the Sale of Goods Act.
You should pursue the retailer who sold you the freezer as your contract is with them.

putting it down to a manufacturing problem as the item hasnt been misused and all instructions have been followed as per the manual, seems I will need to get back onto kitchens direct (moben), I wouldnt recommend them to anyone due to them huge issues I had with them at the start
Yes, it says consumers should take the company to court. You would have to pay an independent expert to inspect the freezer to determine that the fault is inherent and not due to fair wear and tear, or misuse on your part.
The courts also take in to account the price paid. It is reasonable to assume a 100 unit will not last as long as a 1000 unit, for example.
In any event, you take the seller to court and not the manufacturer.
Are you sure it`s not Technika?

I had the same problem from LG with a LCD TV, it packed up after 14 months, (2 months out of warranty)

The supplier didn`t want to know, said it wasn`t their problem, after a few letters and phone calls I took them to court and they offered me a settlement before the hearing, turned that down on the advice of Trading Standards and just my luck the ******s went into administration before the hearing

Don`t give up yet

I think they must be part of wirlpool, but anyways I dont belivie that switching it off all day and on my return and after 30 min it started freezing again, how long is only a guess, maybe it was just pulling strings due to us considering moving home, strange things appliances, had my Beko one for 10 years and is still going strong so the person says that I sold it too..OOhh by the way dont ever go to kitchens direct or moben also part of the dolphin group, just descoved I have another 8 years left t pay..thats right 10 year policy, and they charge you to pay off early 950 if within the 1st quarter of policy then 400 odd when half way and so on...
Have you tried the phone numbers on that page you linked to? I'm wondering if they still work.

While it's possible that 'Tecnik' might just be a trading name of another company, I note (from the Companies House website) that Tecnik (UK) Ltd was dissolved on 17th February of this year:

(It's not unusual, when a company goes bust, for it's web page - or the remnants of a web page - to remain online. I'm wondering if that's the case here).
