there is always a chance, it depends on your relatives and hers, if you have big issues, just have a dna test, it is a lot better than speculating for the rest of your life

Anything is possibe. I supose Genetics is quite complicated but there will probably be ancestral genes that may dictate lighter hair and eyes.

If you are unsure have a DNA test done. The statistics apparently are something like 1 in 3 babies tested for paternity do not belong to the man requesting the test.
What colouring do any siblings of you both have?

What about your parents?

My neighbours are both sallow skinned, dark haired and eyed but have a daughter with white blond hair and blue/greenish eyes, she is definitely his as she is so like him. The colouring comes from his mother.
Well, say you and you partner carry blue-green gene for eye colour (as in green from one parent, blue from other), then the green will dominante blue so you and your partner will have green eyes. However, your offspring, inherits one from its father and one from its mother, so has a 1/4 chance of having blue eyes (i.e. you both have heterogeneous genes, your child has homogeneous). This is put very simply, otherwise it involves a lot of typing!

This is based on there only being two genes that represent eye colour. It is believed there are probably more, as they can't at present explain all eye colours fully.

Also, children's hair is often very light and develops colour as they get older.

The child could therefore very well be yours and I wouldn't worry. If you have another reason to think it isn't, other than it's appearance, get a paternity test (that's assuming this has happened and this is not theoretical). Genetics are complicated and strange things happen all the time.

My parents were both dark. I too am dark, but my brother and sister are both blonde. Anything is possible.
ok,if you have green eyes, sounds like you have 1 green eyed gene (dominant in you) and 1 blue eyed gene which you have passed on to your baby. Same for the babys mum.
What colour hair were you born with? If you look at a nursery class of children, loads will have blond hair, but say 10 years later, most of the blond ones will have gone dark.
I think that the only eye colour you could not produce from 2 green eyed parents is brown.
I was born blonde and blue eyed my hubby the same. although my hair darkened when i was 3 my hubby was white blonde untill he was 5, we both now have dark hair (his darker than mine) Our baby is blone, blue eyed and sallow skinned, both me and hubby are fair skinned I joked to midwife that if it wasn't for her blue eyes hubby would be worried but, she told me two blues can equal a brown! The chance's are the baby is, of course yours, the question is, why are you questioning it?
Genetically 2 blued eyed people cannot produce a brown eyed child as the brown gene is dominant, so no blue eyed person can carry a brown gene. The opposite, however, can occur. Both my ex husband and I have dark eyes and hair and our son has blue eyes and light brown hair. We both carry recessive blue genes from our parents / grandparents.
Shanilisa, that is what continually confuses my mum, my parents both had blue eyes and produced 7 blue eyed children - when some of married partners with brown or hazel eyes, she thought that she would get some brown eyed granchildren as brown eyes are dominant. But this has never happened as the partners must have blue genes as well. For instance my husband is dark haired and eyed, but that comes from his Dad, his Mum was fair with blue eyes. I have dark hair but blue eyes and fair skin (I was blond until very late childhood). our eldest is dark haired blue eyes and reasonably fair skinned, our youngest is blond, sallow skinned and eyes of indeterminate colour, greyish, greenish, bluish, slightly hazelish. My elder sons blues eyes do have a couple of large brown flecks in them though!
Most children are born fair with blue eyes. I was blonde with blue eyes now my eyes are hazel and my hair is almost black. x
