Can blackbirds regrow their tails if they lose them? The poor little fella hopping round our garden this month can fly, but seems to be having problems with steering. Can we hope for improvements as the year moves on?

Yes Branocophile, birds feathers normally grow back. In a few months he should regain his tail feathers.

Thanks icemaiden, feeling better already!
Its quite likely that this is a fledgling- they have very little in the way of tail feathers and their flight is a bit hit and miss!! A week or two and the tail feathers will be pretty much grown
i was epecting a story then

And thanks, burnhal, to you too - I'll hope to watch them grow!
