Please can someone give me reassurance that after a Gallbladder removal the diarrhoea gets better? I was unfortunate enough to catch two infections while in hospital and although these are now managed, the tummy troubles are really wearing me down.
Is there a bright side for the future? I am usually really positive but the diarrhoea is constant and means I simply cannot move two feet away from the bathroom.
Thank You in advance.

Question...........What is the cause of your diarrhoea?

Only after answering that question can one say what the future has in store for you.

If the answer is "don't know" then your bowel problems should be investigated.

That is indeed the question. I hope it is just the operation as it seems bile-like in colour and given the Gallbladder has much to do with bile, I was hoping the problems may only be temporary but presently, it appears never ending.
From your description your diarrhoea is a recognized complication of cholecystectomy (Gall bladder removal)

Cause is unknown but could last from months to years....sorry.

Were you warned about about the chance of this complication before operation?
Question Author
No. This point makes me very angry. I actually asked what would happen to the bile and was told that the Liver would be able to deal with this.
I do feel very aggrieved that the consequences of this operation were not spoken about. I did have very bad pain with the Gallstones but at present, I do wish I could turn back time.
Thank You for your response.
