Going mad

I am going mad. My sister (who is horrible) has just started working at my place of work. I have been part-time for 8 years, and have always worked hard and quite enjoyed the job. She has been there 10 seconds, and because she is full time, is already acting head of department (as so many other members of staff have left lately) and bossing me about and making me dread going in. She will not accept that I know and understand the job better than her (8 years is a long time) and is continually rude, and has sucked up to our boss so much that I now feel that the only thing for me to do is leave.

I can't bear it!! Any advice gratefully received!

Scarlett, what a strain this must be for you.  Is she older than you?  She might just be transferring the "I know better than you because I'm older" bit.  My sister is more than horrible, she's a control freak, I think I know how you feel.  You've been there for 8 years and know your job well, she is only acting head because of the hours that she works.  Is it possible to avoid her at work?  Please don't leave your job, she is trying so hard to establish herself that she might burn herself out soon.
I have been both a manger, when someone has been a ****licker and I have worked under someone who often went to the Management with my ideas to seek praise. In both occassions I have though honesty the best policy and had a one to one which each party and expressed my concerns. The one thing you dont want to do is be in competition or been seen to slag her off (Hard I Know). Can you speak to a Manager and expressed your concerns, explain how upset you are and say you love working here but my Sister actions and attitude will make me consider looking elsewhere. If they spoke to your sister it might relax her. Companies tend to give the expression that they have loads of workers ready to take your place, this is really to keep you in line and it is a pain and expensive for them to have a high turnover of staff. I think you talk them both and if need be consider looking somewhere else , jobs can be replaced- Sisters cannot.
