No we don't Mani....!!!!!

I find it hard to believe that the English are not as patriotic as the Irish. I think you might find that any problems caused on Paddy's day has a lot to do with the people who celebrate because their mothers great great grandmums aunty in law was Irish..........!!!!!!!!
Mani

Have you actually ever been to Ireland? Have you ever been here on St Patricks Day? Yet another bigotted comment.

Why are you so negative all the time? And calling someone else insensitive, are you for real?
The point is Paddy's day isn't full of people starting threads like this about immigrants.

It's inclusive not exclusive.

We can't celebrate St. George's day until thread like this stop.

I've just returned from my local (in trendy leftie Islington) which threw a big St. George's Day party.

It was about 60% White, 30% black and 10% Asian. Everyone was having a great time and the music being played went from The Kinks to The Beatles and Kate Bush through to Amy Winehouse, Soul II Soul and Leona Lewis.

That's what I call a truly representative St. George's Day celebration.

As long as we can enjoy parties like that, we can be secure in the knowledge that the bigots who are trying to hijack our (and by that I mean 'everyone') day won't get a look in.

Now - when is St David's Day? Good reason to get my Duffy CD out!
the only UK saint's day left this year is that of St Andrew.

SP, will you be dressed in your tartan flares dancing to "bye bye baby"?
;-)
Mani:

I've only just returned to this thread, hence the gap since your comment that I was being "insensitive".

Doh! Did I know that you're a "recovering alcoholic"? Doh - No!
Therefore, how can I be insensitive?

Besides, who mentioned alcohol? Does everyone in the world need to be bladdered to enjoy themselves? Hope not, otherwise I've been getting it wrong for yonks!

Get a life and cheer up, stop playing the victim - we've all got some sort of problems - you don't have a monopoly on them you know? Try smiling.
mushroom,

You have NO idea how close to the truth you are. Suffice to say, I remember the Bay City Rollers and am ashamed to say that more than one of their songs currently graces my iPod.

That'll be the Queen whose original family name was Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, a fine old English Surname...

That is why I used the word "original," it was changed to Windsor due to previous surname's German connexions.
