Why is it that since my girlfriend has moved into my flat she has become my cats lap of choice? I still feed, water, play and clear his tray out yet if he has a choice he is straight on her lap without so much as a sniff at me??? It's getting quite annoying! Anybody have any ideas why?

He obviously loves her as much as you do.  When love takes a hold there is nothing you can do!  I am afraid you just have to accept that you have a rival.

And seriously, there is no telling with cats - they have minds of their own and you just have to go along with them.  I have three, two adore my husband and I am there for the purposes of feeding and litter tray emptying, and one loves me so much and never goes near my husband.  Yet they have all been treated the same.

Ungrateful sod!  We have 2 cats and one takes to me more and other is all over my gf.  I think it's just their personal preference and bonding.  Cats don't give two hoots who feeds them really (unlike dogs) they just expect that because they are there they have to be fed NOW!

I love both cats and dogs, but I also like what Churchill said: "I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals."

I know how you feel!

I moved in with my boyfriend and took my cat with me, he's always going to my fella though and only me as second choice (generally when he wants letting out or feeding).

I feel so used.

He's a cat! Nothing more to say really, they're just contrary b*ggers!

(But we love 'em)

Being a male cat might explain his preference
Then mine must be gay.
One of mine must be as well then

He just just loves her more then you!

Give as good as you get, get another cat and give it loads of love and attention and the see how he feels, I bet he would soon change the choice of lap he sits on!
