I view Agatha Christie's novels as a beginners guide to detective fiction, the stories are not hugely complicated and the characters are a bit time warp. Having said that I have enjoyed the TV adaptations of both Miss Marple and Poirot.
I love the theories around her disappearance, yes you are right that is fascinating though I suspect the explanation is a lot more humdrum
