s video laptop to tv

I have connected my television to my laptop using an s video cable. I activated the television as a monitor extension but this is not what I am trying to do. I am trying to basically use my television as a projection of what is on the laptop monitor. Anyone explain how to set my laptop settings to accomplish this.

I think you may have the extended desktop switched on, in whcih case when you switch it off you may well get the dual display option for image on both screens.

There is also usually a toggle key usually Fn and one f the function keys usually has a icon on it or CRT labelled. This cycles output from Single to both to monitor only.
