I've heard this phrase used on TV and whatnot, and I just wondered what it actually means. What is someone saying when they say "you're dead to me".

it means you have cut that person off from your life
It basically means, i dont want anything to do with you ever again- i'm going to pretend you are dead, you wont exist as far as i am concerned.
In the "old days", i guess it was being disowned.
