I have now watched two episodes of 'Countdown' with the new presenter, Jeff Stelling, & the new numbers genius, Rachel Riley.
Rachel appears to have bad deportment because she has to bend forward to select the letters & numbers, but this could be due to her choice of very high heels. Hope she'll dispense with the black stockings sooner rather than later!
Has anyone noticed that some consonants appear to be missing from the selection box at this stage? The choice of letters has been truly awful, so far.
I suppose we'll all get used to the new people and the new set. Things can only get better!

I caught a bit of this and thought they should lift the letters board up because that poor girl was having to stoop.
What they should have done is use a computer and the competitors press a button to select their letters. There must also be a way of giving the number answers by computer, thus doing away with the long legged one who will never be able to fill the Vordmeisters shoes.
Didn't really see much of the presenter, he looked a bit out of place and no personality.

I've never seen Jeff before, Tallulah, 'cos I don't watch football programmes. I'm reserving my judgement on him. Did you see 'Countdown' today? I missed it. Was Rachel wearing the same high heels & black stockings?

Rachel has one recurring fault - she regularly refers to multiplication as "times by" which is grammatically incorrect. "Times" in this context means "multiplied by" so she is saying "multiplied by by" which is tautology. (Like estate agents who say property "comprises of" which means "consists of of"). This wasn't one of Carol's faults - it's disappointing to hear that the teaching of the English language in tweny first century Oxford is inferior to that in twentieth century Cambridge.
