I didn't know it was possible to tell the gender of a foetus so early in a pregnancy.
My daughter had her dating scan last week and she is 13 weeks +3 days. The sonographer said that the baby is definitely a boy and my daughter could clearly see this was true from the monitor. This means she will have two boys under the age of two by next summer :-O
Looks like my grandma duties will be called upon more often.lol

didnt think they could say what sex the baby is definately, just its probably
even at a 20 scan they are only 90% accurate or something.

I really cant see that they would be accurate at all at 13 weeks.

does she get a 20 week scan, she could get it confirmed then

She will get a 20 week scan as well but the sonographer told her she is definitely having a boy,she said she was 99.99% sure about it. She also said that it is a large baby and if it continues to grow at this rate will be around 10lbs at birth. I know when I had scans at this stage with my own 3 they were not this detailed.
private gender sans arent done before 16 weeks so this sonographer must be very good at her job. I hope for her sake shes right

2 under 2, and boys, she must be crazy lol

I only ever had a dating scan with both my pregnancies, on my second, at approx 10 weeks, the testes are clearly visible on the scan, but they have a policy of not telling the sex so they didn't say anything!

p.s. daffy, I have 2 boys 13 months apart - it's not as bad as you think - just bundles of energy when they were little - and still are, but friends for life - very close and they always have a friend to play with. ;o).

Best of luck for the new arrival.
well thats cool!! good luck, tho like others i was told u cant tell till at least 16 weeks and its never definate,

i have my 20 week scan ( well ill be 21 weeks lol) on the 11th dec, im soooo excited and extremely nervous, cant wait to find out tho!! xxx
A friend of mine was also told that early that she was having a boy, daffy. I was a bit dubious as I didn't think they could tell that early, but baby Daniel arrived a month ago! :)

Congratulations again, Nanny Daffy! :) x

I guess it must be easier to tell with male babies as there are obvious 'bits' visible sometimes. :)
annie...I thought my girls were close in age at 20 months apart(they hate each other and always have),but 13 months:-O I'd have gone mad!!! lol
Whiskeysheri....thanks for the congrats :)
Hi Daffy - maybe that's a girl thing - a colleague of mine has two girls, now teenagers, that are only a year appart and they don't get on either - never have.

My two obviously have their moments, and they have separate friends, but they really do enjoy each others company 95% of the time. They even chose to share a bedroom as they like being together and I like to hear them chattering away to each other before they drop off to sleep. I think they have the same sense of humour so that helps - but then don't all boys fine the same things funny?

Willow tree do a lovely ornament called brothers which would be an ideal gift when the baby is born.

My friend found out she was having twin boys at her 12week scan, then they reconfirmed it at her 20week scan and she gave birth to two boys at 39weeks.

Twins was always my biggest fear natalie!!! I don't know how anybody copes with 2 newborn babies.(or more)
Not only did she have twins, but her little girl is only just two - when the boys were born in March, her daughter was 16months old! I think she is mental as she wants more (not right now) despite having two 8month olds and a 2year old!

Some people are just gluttons for punishment!!!
wow, i didnt realise they could tell u the sex of the baby so early on. Im 18 weeks pregnant now and haven't been told what sex my baby is. my last scan was when i was over 13weeks.
my next scan is on 10th of december, i'll be 20weeks then so i'll find out the sex of the baby then, can't wait! :)

Congratulations Shaunzy :)
There is always the chance that the baby won't be facing the right way during any scan and the sonographer won't be able to see the gender at all. That happened in my last two pregnancies and I had to wait until the birth to find out.........I had actually guessed right on both though!
thanx daffy :) awww i hope they can tell the sex of my baby as im dying to know lol although the baby was moving around all over the place on my last scan which was making it difficult for them to take pictures
Shaunzy, the sonographer couldn't see on my scan either as my baby had her legs crossed and was being shy LOL.

In hindsight, I am so glad we were not able to find out, it was so exciting I would never check on any future pregnancies I would just wait for the surprise :-D xx
