I always have acrylic nails applied by a nail technician and each time i convince myself that im sure i could do them myself. I bought all the stuff needed, followed some instructions i downloaded off the internet but when i came to applying the acrylic it would not harden. Could anybody tell me why this has happened. When taking it off it was like a rubbery jelly texture. Thanks

You probably mixed it with too much acetone.
I think you have perhaps bought the wrong type of acrylic retention - you can get self setting or the other stuff requires a UV light to set?
Never mix with ACETONE!! Acetone melts acrylic.
