Renault Clio Starting problems

My Wife drives a 2001 Y reg 1.2 16valve Renault clio. On accosions she will go to start the car and it will turn over fine just not fire up she will then have to leave it for 5 to 10 minutes go back to it and it will start 1st turn of the key Any ideas?????

before anything else try a new battery in the remote key fob this turns off the immobiliser & could be the cause of the problem.
Either crank sensor OR (most likely) bad connection in the plug that goes onto the crank senor
As twazerk says it is the TDC sensor, (thats what Renault dealers call it).

99% of the time all you have to do is take it out and clean the connections and the tip of the sensor, the tip gets dirty after a time and just stop sensing so no signal is sent to fire the spark plugs.
