I have a 'w' reg Renault Clio and for the past month ive had problems with the car starting. It is very irratic, sometimes its fine and other days i will drive the car to the shops come back out and the car will not turn over, i have to try 3 or 4 times before the car starts. The car always starts when it hasnt been used - ie in the mornings the problem comes when you drive the car and then stop it and start it again so it makes going to the shop immpossible! The car went into the garage 2 weeks ago and they changed the plugs and coil pack and it didnt seem to have any problems for 2 weeks until last night. Someone has suggested it could be because i have no batteries in my key fob, im due to get these changed shortly. Any ideas what it could be?

Can i do this myself with my Dad or does it have to go into a garage?
try the clamp thing first
4getmenot i only drive a vauxhall corsa!!, hardly an expensive car, and im not rich, heaven only knows ive tried though!!
Had a similar problem with my Peugeot, the clamp just did not seem to get a good grip of the earth terminal on the battery. A new clamp was just the same.
In desperation I wangled a Jubilee clip around the clamp and tightened it on.......end of problem!
Its been there for years now and the car always starts first turn of the key, hot or cold.
You sorted it yet?
