Hi there, just need a real quick answer to this one; we are going away - do I need to keep the sky plus box plugged in in order to record programmes or will it still do it switched off. I have a feeling this question may make me look a little 'blonde' but oh well.....

As it works by the transferrance of electrical energy from the plug socket, I am pretty sure it needs to be plugged in.

If you mean, will it record whilst on standby (red light not green light) then yes it will.
she might end up in bournemouth if that question is anything to go by :)
