Does anyone know who came up with the theory that we should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day?

And what are the health benefits?

I'm sure I read on the BBC website that it was a myth but I cant find the article now.

I tried it and was up half the night to the loo. I think drinking water is good for you but that amount is too much.
I drink around two to three litres of water every day and it's not done me any harm.

I do believe it was Evian

tonyted is right.
The advice is that we all have 2 litres a day....in total, NOT in addition to our normal cuppas, liquid in food etc.

There was a story in the papers at the weekend of a young guy who drank loads of cold water to help relieve a gum problem and he died from drinking too much water.
I quite like the 'my birthday present' on that page. Might drop some hints with the missus.
I have to drink my water early in the day...

or else I would never get home without wetting myself!!!!
This is interesting here (:O)
You'll have to read the Jokes section in AB early in the day too, Funnygirl, as you may wet yourself laughing at our rapier wit!

Have not heard of "Dring King", Unicorn. Is that some national chain of drinking water outlets?
