if its central locking, try cutting a tennis ball in half. place the half over the drivers door lock so its flush with the paintwork. Give it a good smack. The air inside the ball should force into the barrel and open the door. It sometimes works. GOOD LUCK.
Sorry to disappoint you cumbrianlad but your refering to "air assisted central locking" of which was not fitted to VW. the other tried method would be either replacing a good window after you have smashed it OR call a good locksmith. Good luck anyway.
I hate to say this but with most modern cars you are not getting those keys out without smashing a window, especially if it deadlocks.
they try to make them as hard to break into as possible, good side is cars harder to steal things from, bad side.. if you lock your keys in you can't get in to get them out again!
It actually says in the owners manual for my car that if you do lock your keys in or lose them to break the smallest window!
in theory it shouldnt be deadlocked, that is usually a second operation and not automatic...shutting them in shouldnt deadlock it..
RAC/AA should be able to do it , most breakdown guys carry the kit or know a method of entry.
there is a kit you can buy which forses the top of the window down slightly to gain access with a tool to hook onto the keys but be warned you must know what you are doing or youll damage either the top of thre window frame or the window itself.
