Car problems?

My car (306) is having problems and sometimes pulls away much slower than normal and feels like something is slipping. There is also a screeching noise. It feels like you are turning a wheel connected to another wheel by a belt but the belt is loose so that only some of the power is transferred to the other wheel. Hope that makes sense?

Would this be the fan belt or does that have nothing to do with the power of the motor when pulling away?

2 things are happening

1. get your clutch checked
2. Your alternator belt is slipping. Easilly changed by your self

Hope this helps
If you had a loose or no Auxiliary belt, (your car does not have a fan belt) You would pull away slightly faster.

You probably have a slipping clutch, to check it drive at 40mph in 4th gear, fully accelerate, if the engine runs faster but the car only goes slightly faster you need a new clutch fitted.
