I went up a cars backside on sat and had to go through my insurance losing 6 years no claims. I also got my first 3 points for contravening a red light last week. My insurance runs out in 2 months, so when I renew, i'm gonna get stung but by how much? All other circumstances are the same. I currently pay approx 360pa, so how much will this increase by......any thoughts anyone! Regards

As a general guide, if you currently have 50% no claims discount, you are paying half price. If you didn't have it, you would pay 720 - plus the usual annual increases.

It is unusual to lose all your no claims bonus at once though.

As a general rule:

1 claim during a period of insurance means a reduction in your no-claims bonus of 2 years, so your's should only drop to 4 years.

However, if you have 2 accidents in the same period, you would lose 4 years, so you would be down to 2.

If you have 3 or more accidents, you would lose all the years you had accumulated.
