If you've got a 2GHz processor and a Gig or two of RAM it'll be fine. Much more crucial for your purpose is the speed of your broadband connection.
Possibly the fastest easily-obtained and easily-used home computer on the market is a Mac Pro. Give it 8 cores and 16GB RAM or more, and it'll be flying.

But it'll also cost you a fortune and will be totally wasted, most likely.

You mean stock market type stuff? If so, I'd go with 4candles' suggestion: get a decent internet connection. Any computer these days will be able to update a page fast.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Though broadband seems to be a sore subject! Have Be Pro . 24 Mbs and only live a few 100 yards from exchange and can only get around 6mbs. Very frustrating!!

Good luck to you all.
I love it MKG - most people would die for 6mB . . . .

Webdude, So not worth the money 22 pm?
I am on Virgin Cable and regularly get 20Mb.

Sorry to brag :-)
In theory, living as you do so close to the exchange you should get the same quality of connection no matter who provides your service. So the answer to your question is yes, there are cheaper ISPs around, but look before you leap, and read other ABRs comments re ISPs. If you are happy with your present service - maybe better to stick with it.

Personally I'm changing from Orange as my 12 month contract is now up, and I shall be looking at Tiscali as my next provider. At 19.99 which includes the BT line rental, I'm off.
