i know someone, who has been signing her prescriptions to get them free even when she and her husband was working, she still does it, she is now divorced and remaried, she doesnt work but hwer new husband does, all hours God sends, she is now on Incapacity Benefit LOL not a thing wrong with her, *trust me i know* she goes for her medical under her maiden name, the docs dont know she has married, they go at least 3 holidays a year plus she has a disabled sticker for the car too, is this serious fraud and should i let the authorities know or just let it go ?

Therema, if you did report her for fraudulently claiming benefit and free prescriptions and it turned out that she does have a genuine claim there would be no action taken against her. You won't have stopped her getting anything she may be genuinely entitiled to. The Benefits Agency may well decide to keep a closer eye on her however and she might find she gets a random call in for an interview or an unsolicited visit to her home by a Benefits Investigation Officer at some point in the future.
As for using her maiden name, it might aid her in committing fraud but, to reiterate what Ethel said, all women are perfectly legally entitled to use their maiden name. One doesn't have to adopt one's husband's name once married and even if you do, you can still use your maiden name anyway. That's my understanding of it anyhow.
As for accusations of bitterness and/or jealousy, that would no doubt be a natural reaction and probably the incentive behind most whistle-blowing incidents. It's irrelevant to the facts if it's genuine fraud. If someone really is committing fraud then they are acting illegally and someone, somewhere ends up having to pay for it. Usually the public in one way or another.

Ok for a start Bednobs im certainly not jealous, of what, someone posing to be ill to get what she can for sweet FA i dont think so, I would rather be able to work myself, which isnt possible for me, but her i know for a fact the pills and stuff she doesnt take, NO she doesnt have any illnesses she hasnt told us about, she is a compulsive liar, always has been since she was a child, its just blew right out of control, its treatment she needs.
As for chemists checking, this has only started a few months back where i live, she has been signing her prescriptions for yrs now so the chemist think she automatically gets them free, i wouldnt be bothering my ass if i didnt know for sure what she was doing was wrong, so yeah it needs to be stopped now its gone on long enuf oh and by the way im not a NOSY BUSYBODY you stupid person she told me ok this is how i know all this

except you state she is a compulsive liar. Yet you chose to believe this because it suits you to and makes you feel smug and "poor me" by the sound of it. If she is a compulsive liar, isnt it likely she is lying to you about getting free prescriptions? or about using her maiden name? or all of it

People say the NHS and benefit system in this country is falling apart, yeah because of people doing things like this!!
My partner and I are getting married next year and we are already trying to figure out if I can afford to stay on at college, if my son can go to the sixth form college he wants etc, all because of lack of money (earned honestly) and silly high taxes!

I think you have done the right thing, do not worry
The authorities will investigate her actions and if they find that she is genuine, they wil not take any action. So... no problem.
If they find she has been fraudulent, then it serves her right.
Everyone seems to whine about slackers and system abusers, but how many would do something about it?
