I only needed 2 cans of mackeson to put into my Christmas puds but I had to buy a 4 pack. I cannot drink the stuff so I wondered if anyone knew what I could mix with it to make a reasonable drink.  Thankyou.

I can't help you with a drink, but my preference would be to put  a quarter or half pint at a time into casseroles or stews for luscious gravy - it's also a great tenderizer for less than perfect meat.

Adding anything else would be sacrilege, pamnez !!

I know some people drink 'Guinness and Black' - a pint of stout with a dash of blackcurrant cordial, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I think if you can't drink it, I'd use it for more cooking. Adding stout in 'steak & kidney pud', or substituting for ale in 'beef & ale pie' etc. does work rather nicely. Mmmm !!

If you make home-made fish and chips, add some to your batter mix

Thankyou all. Some good ideas.

Beer is supposed to be very good to wash your hair in, I don't know about stout but you could try it and let us know!
Add to Champagne for a Black Velvet.
Try adding tonic water for a really dry shandy.
Lemonade sweetens it a bit. Not bad at all.

You could also make a Guinness punch........a jamaican drink with Guinness:

Ingredients

1 large tin Guinness
170 g evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
pinch nutmeg
pinch cinnamon
60 ml white rum (optional)
1 egg (optional)

Preparation Method

Place all the ingredients in a jug and stir well. The mixture can thicken overnight in the refrigerator. Serve with ice. Serve in chilled glasses with crushed ice.
