There is an option on Expedia for multi part trips, have a look at that. I found it useful for travelling to Toronto and back from New York.
Virgin fly to New York & Las Vegas so it may be worth checking with them.
Not many carriers fly direct from Vegas to the UK - you usually have to go another city
We flew with American Airlines into New Yor then on to LA. I would assume they also do a flight to Las Vegas. The advantage of American Airlines is they have more space and leg room in the seats. XX
we are of to new york for 5days then on to vegas for5 days and we are flying from Edinburgh direct with Delta airlines.
We booked through a travel agent because like you it was the first time doing a twin centre holiday and wanted to make sure we did it right, but Airline network do some great deals just google them. Also if you are leaving from an English airport then there are a lot more deals around. Heathrow and Gatwick all do direct flights. We are going in Aug when unfortunately it is more expensive and HOTTER! but unfortunately that is the only time we can go, but you will get better deals in Nov. I wish you luck in getting exactly what you are looking for, and when you get there ENJOY.
P.s I telephoned Airline network and spoke to a lovely girl and she worked out all our itineray and did all the costings which were great (and it was Virgin Airways)but we decided against it because we were leaving from Edinburgh we had a very short time to get to the next terminal for our connecting flight so we went to the travel agents and paid an extra 100 each for the pleasure of them doing it all for us, then we found out that Delta do direct flights, I wish I had known that at the time I would have booked with Airline network, but I was being fussy at the time and wanted to fly with a decent airline, and I told the girl this so she only gave me price for Virgin. but I am sure that they will get you sorted.
