Hello all,

I don't post often but i do read how everyone is doing. I have reached 35 weeks now and as we dont know what we're having we're trying to get a short list together of both boys and girls names. thing is, we're really struggling with boys names. our surname is Robinson. has anyone got any ideas or know of any names that go nice with Robinson?? i'm really worried i'm not going to be able to name my baby if it's a boy and it'll end up like my cat - we've had her since april - i rescued her and her 4 3-week-old kittens and she's still called Mummy!!
thanks

Hugo Robinson (could be famous with a name like that!)

I still like Alfie Robinson :-)

Psychick - we liked Ryan for about 5 months then for some reason we just went off it. think it's the double "R" aspect - Ryan Robinson.... sometimes it works, sometimes not... we weren't sure. my mum thinks it's hilarious to suggest Randy....
If you like different but not too weird then i think; Jay, Connor, Zak, Cooper, Max.
My Sons are Craig and Ciar (the more usual spelling is Keir). My first son didn't have a name for 3 days, the 2nd for 2 weeks - we tried out Cairn for a few days but weren't convinced.

For girls it was either Kirsty or Mairi.

I also like Gregor, Alec, Kerr, Joe, Callum and Walker. For a more traditional name, I think that David is due for a resurgence.

Another name I like which is often used with Roberston is Struan- something to do with the clan chiefs - I always like it by my other half didn't and he isn't a Robertson
Do you like biblical names - Adam/Samuel/Joshua or Daniel?

Other suggestions - Joel-Neil-Andrew-Darren
my sons are
ethan thomas
and
ryan samuel
How about Saul?
It's unusual, but still traditional. Not too wierd o r'made up'!!!
I always liked the name Marcus.....Marcus Robinson goes good together
Jed
Jude
Caleb
I have a similar surname to you and my son is called James. He's 20 now and it has suited him every step of his life. I like the good old traditional names. Anything too fancy he might not thank you for in years to come !

Just make sure its something sensible and remember he'll live with it all his life...unless he changes it by legal deed that is.

I went to school with a lad called Eliot Twigg and he got it in the neck every day because of his name.

My cousins wife...not renowned for her brains...called their son Archie (I mean why not go for Fido or Rover as well!). Ridiculous pet type name that is. The kid hates his name and uses his middle name which is Jack.

I see little lads running around called Freddie or Bertie and I think poor kid just wait til he grows up. Giving little boys cute pet names is ok when they're small but one has to feel sorry for them when they're adults.

Lots of people seem to be going for bog irish names like Liam, Ryan or Connor. The traditional English names like George, Thomas, Jack etc. are nice. My two kids are Benjamin and Grace.
Montcrieff you gotta be joking....Tasia or Deena?! Jesus H. Christ those are trailer trash names. Tasia will get called Tasia Stun Gun at school and Deena will be Deena-saur.

You see kids with names like these parked up in their pushchairs outside Greggs the Bakers chewing on a sausage roll whilst their benefit claiming overweight unmarried mothers are sucking on a roll up or a tin of Special Brew discussing what tattoo to have done next or who might be the father of their latest kid.

Damien?.....ever seen The Omen horror film.

This is Wayne and Waynetta Slob stuff. Lol! (remember the Harry Enfield characters with the baby....Spudulike....'it's exotic....I am smokin a faaaaag!')
My favourite boy's name is Samuel.
Some that would go with Robinson would be, I think:
Louis (or Lewis), Luke, Jake, Paul, Jay, Liam, Aidan...
A name that is growing on me for a boy is Finley/Finlay or even just Finn.
Hi, I work with a Robinson - his first name is James (which was one of my choices when I had my son many years ago).

There are only two bits of advice I can give (1) Think about initials so you don't end up with, for example, Stephen Carl Andrew Robinson, aka SCAR. (2) Decide on a name, shout it out of your back door about 100 times. If you're not fed up with it, then it's a hit!

Let us know what you decide - and good luck!!
