gas cooker rings

All of the 4 rings on my gas cooker seem to be too strong/hot. It is nearly impossible to simmer food on any of the rings - everything just boils.
Anyone know why this might be and whether there is anything I can do to sort it out?

You could use something made for the job like this. There are similar products elsewhere, and perhaps somewhat cheaper.
