what happens to text messages after you send them, are they stored by a third party?

I dont know for sure but given the number that are sent each day that they would not be stored. I think there are over a billion send in the uk each month, I cant see the phone companies wanting to keep that many hanging around on their systems.

apparantly at&t keep an archive of text messages for 5 years! recently in a court case in usa a man was convicted using his text archive 4 mths after the crime was commited!!!
