Why were Western states more apt to give women the right to vote prior to the 19th Amendment?

possibly because of the respect accorded pioneer women, whose life was very hard. Not meek little housewives like their sisters back east. That's just a guess; but Wyoming was I think the first place to give women the vote, and New Zealand - another frontier territory - the first country.
In Britain at least, they also bombed and terrorised their way to the vote,
