my elderly mum is due to have a flu jab next wednesday.she is on antibiotics for a chest infection.she finishes the tablets on wednesday morning.is she ok to have the jab or not ? also she never had any chest infections till last january ,she has had 2 this year ,only since she had the first flu jab 3 years ago.Do you think it is linked.?
Very unlikely. Has she been offered the pneumonia jab, as a one off, at some time with the 'flu jab? Personally, I think she should tell the nurse when she goes along to the GP surgery about the antibiotics before she is given the jab & ask at the same time about the pneumonia jab.
At our doctors you fill a form in which asks whether you are ill or have a temp, and they will probably decide then whether she can have it. Would'nt have thought her chest infections were linked
Good. Your Mum must mention the chest infection & the recent course of antibiotics when she attends the surgery although this should all be in her notes which the nurse should have in front of her.
