What operating system is it? Pointless having a book about XP if it's Vista.

The Complete Idiiot's Guide to and the Dummies books are good for beginners. Have a look in the library - there should be a selection.

That is the Daily Mail web forum where you can ask all manor of questions and someone usually pops up and answers a query.

Your own ISP usually has a facility to ask questions too.

Good luck to your parents.

I am an oldie and wouldn't be without my PC now.
