It is true. It is the artificial sweetener that causes it - aspartame.

This is in many diet foods and drinks, so it is not just diet coke. Try eating a pack or two of sugar free polo mints.

Aspartame is evil stuff and should be avoided - it is a known headache trigger in many people as well as the laxative effects.
In trials, it was also seen to cause cancer in rodents
If it is i'll be buying a warehouse full to get rid of my constipation.
If you have constipation try prunes, fruit juices, senna or over the counter laxatives.

phil i was trialing that benefiber in liquid satchet form, been into boots and noticed they had it in powder form, i found it very good for keeping you regular especially if you are not into veggies and fruit, not saying that this should be a total substitute for your 5 portions a day!the liquid was quite palatable like apple juice, i sumise that the powder form will be tastless so that you can add to most things, anyway give it a try a bit pricey but shop around you might get it cheaper somewhere else1
It's not just the sweetener either- caffine in excess is also a laxative!
