my hubbys ex is refusing to give us back his boys passports. She agreed that she would pay for them but they would be registered to our name and address as children live here and they would be returned to us. Now she is saying she paid for them they are hers and will not hand them over till she sees our tickets. As i dont trust her as far as i can throw her i will not book a holiday without the passports in my possesion. What if anything can i do ?

contact the pasport agency and report the passports as stolen - they are actually the property of the passport agency if you read the small print in them, not hers. They will probably revoke the passports and issue replacements., I'm not sure, but they are certainly not hers to keep.
if you report them as stolen you'll need the usual police incident report; so it might be worth asking them for advice while they're there.

thanks for your quick reply black bunny. i have suggested this to my hubby and he said we know where the passports are so saying they stolen would be a lie.
yes, but stolen means keeping something which is not theirs - that is what she has done, isn't it?
Perhaps get the advice of the passport agency - they must have had this situation before.
