ok, so Im Irish, and I have the typical Irish skin: white, that DOES NOT TAN but I want a tan so much, I have been faking it for years but the result is just never as good as the real thing. So I started using Sunbeds. The first time I went on it didnt really work, then the second time I went on a stronger one, and my skin got a slightly red tinge. Will this turn into a tan? If I keep going on them, will I eventually get a tan? has anyone else had this issue? thank you xx.

I doubt if you have typically Irish white skin that you will tan. Many people with this type of skin just go red and then white again as it fades.

Have you ever been to the salon for a salon tan? Well applied ones will be better than the sunbed!
Being a true Celt (Irish father, Scottish mother) I have blonde hair, very pale skin and freckles. Out of all us siblings, I tend to tan the easiest though! I've been using sunbeds since December last year and I started with a low-powered bed once a week. At first I would go a little bit pink, then back to white, but after 4 sessions I started to get a little bit of a permanent glow about me. So then I upped to 2 beds per week. My tan didn't really show until end of January though, and even then it was only the people who knew me who spotted that I had a tan!!

I'm now on high-powered beds and use 1 session a week to sustain (not build) my colour. I have a lovely golden tan and people comment on how healthy I look and ask if I've been on holiday.

So you can do it, but it takes a long time with our skin tone. Do you really want to sustain sunbeds for that period of time?
Please remember that your skin type is also more prone to sun damage, so beware of those wrinkles in a few years time!
I have your skin tone as well but don't use sun beds because of skin cancer scare. I lived abroad for 3 years and was white when i came back - just go red and back to white. however this week I tried a spray St tropez tan and it is fantastic - a bit brown to start with but now lovely colour. Much better than tan lotions although it does have the usual problem with staining clothes but it washes out.
i've found the nivea and dove tanning lotions work extremely well, very natural looking , a subtle golden tan and no streaking, hope this helps hunnie
