Hi folks, Ive damaged my hamstring muscles at the weekend when I was running, i have it strapped up currently, but was wondered if anyone had any general advise on the matter like how long i should rest it before playing football again, and are there any exercises that will help it recover and strengthen again?

Gentle stretching excercises should help losen the tightness a little...and a nice hot soak in the bath! Also some deep heat or something like that could help. I'd say have at least a week or two off the footy, you don't want to cause any more damage. Take it easy too!
I really hurt mine a few years ago, rested for 1 week, turned up for basketball training and pulled even more the second time.
I would see a physio as soon as possible, could be worth it in the long run. Also, try sitting on some ice for short periods of time.
After pulling it the second time it took 3 months before I could run on it again for sport.
I would leave it for a long time, even if it feels fine.
