lent - when does it end?

I always thought it ended easter sunday, but two people have tried to tell me it ended yesterday (apparently yday was palm sunday?) - i counted in my diary and yesterday is actually 40 days from ash wednesday - please tell me!! (im not following lent for religious reasons, purely to prove to myself that i can give up something if i want to, hence not knowing the end date)

Many people don't realise that Sundays aren't included when you count the 40 days of Lent. Lent always ends on the Saturday before Easter Sunday, which this year is very late, falling on 8th April. So the last day of Lent this year is Saturday, 7th April.

easter sunday is when christ rose from the dead , so i would of said it was yesterday , today is just a abnk holiday and nothing religious in that
