Sounds as though it may be a blue tit. They have a boring squeaky song.
The Dunnock's song has been likened to an unoiled trolley wheel, paufor, so have a listen to this and see what you think.

Another possibility is the Robin, as they sing through most of the night as well as the day.

Thank you Bellringer and Cetti - unfortunately they dont sound the same, they are too trilly. This is a definite squeak..........squeak..........squeak......... really loud, I have heard in my local parks, and woods. Most mornings it is just near my house and I have been out with the binocs, I am driven to know what it is!
I have the same bird song outside my window on a morning, drives you barmy!! I was told it was some member of the tit family, but if you have heard them on a site and they do not sound like the real thing, then I don't know now.
It sounds as though it could be the 'call' rather than the 'song' and as most birds have calls for contact, flying and just about everything this might take a while...

Let's try a few more. Does it sound as though the bird has asthma - or a bit unsure of its song. If yes, then it's the Greenfinch. This bird is very vocal at the moment and also has a rather pathetic 'cheeeeep' which it says over and over and.....

Have a listen on the RSPB site for these sounds. One of the Wren's calls sounds a bit squeaky bikey - and lastly did you notice the beginning of the Dunnock's song clip as that started with a couple of calls?

Have just beensearching on bird songs and have found this site www.wildsong.demon.co.uk. And I think I have found it. A GREAT TIT (it has five different sounds and number five is it. We have plenty of the tit family in our garden and I didnt think such small birds could make such a loud sound. Thank you everyone for your replies.

If you go on the site, would love to hear if you agree fatmanfirst.
So glad you've found it - now I can go and wash my hair :-)

I've always thought it would be a good idea if birds emerged from the egg complete with ID tags, don't you agree? Not so much fun, though!
paufor - I've been on that site and had to laugh as your description of a squeaky bicycle wheel is spot on!
