I like a (children's) bible as christening present.
Would check with the parents, though, or she might get five.
I think a nice story book with an inscription inside makes a lovely christening gift
we gave our godaughter a thin silver bangle for when she's grown up, and a book with all the beatrix potter stories in it. you could omit the silver bangle if you're not a godparent.
How about premium bonds, they are likely to appreciate and she may thank you in the future if she needs a house or an education
There's a really nice jeweller called Kit Heath who does a lovely children's range. Based in Covent Garden but you can order over the phone, and they'll post out to you.
