My dad has a big birthday coming up, but doesn't want a big fuss about it. I have no idea what to get him, but wanted to do something a bit different from the usual golfing accessories. Has anyone got any ideas? I can only afford about 50 maximum.

What about naming a star after him or buying an acre of the moon, both about 25 each. If I'm after an unusual gift, I look here:

Is he into cars? You could club together with someone to get him a driving experience such as a classic car or racing car.
How about get both of you tickets to a show at the theatre or a concert, so you can have a great evening together?
Through the years Ive got my dad a back massager that you drap over the armchair and plug in.

A 50 mobile phone (he doesnt need any fancy phones)

A nice jacket

A free view digi box from Argos 30

A box set of John Wayne films

Gosh I could go on.

He said he always loves my pressies as they are different from the usual socks, sweets etc my sisters get him. hope this helps
What about a newspaper from the day he was born. I got my dad one of these a few years ago and he loved it.
Alcohol may work - a 50 quid bottle of wine (or whisky / other spirit) would (hopefully) be a bit special
Fantastic site bonbon!!
Also try this site http://www.ultimategifts.co.uk. I got a rose named after my mum from here. Loads of ideas.

we gave my dad his family crest on a plaque. he was well chuffed with it.
found a really good website...-www.iwantoneofthese.com...has unusual pressies.
Have you got any particular skills? For my Dad's 50th I did a big cross stitch picture of the red arrows for him and had it framed - he loved it.

For my Mum's 50th, I found out what record was number 1 when she was born (thanks to the wonders of the internet) and downloaded it onto a CD. It costs about 20p to do, but she burst into tears when she opened it.

quizee suggested iwantoneofthose - I agree, it's a brilliant site.
