I had my postings blocked a few weeks ago. I queried with Editor. Long long delay, then reply from Technical saying that I had been cut off automatically because I had sent 3 postings within 5 minutes, and had to send explanation to Editor. I don't know when this 'offence' took place, and I had no reply to my 'explanation', but I find I've been reconnected. Has anyone come across this rule, or been affected by it? It seems a bit of an odd one, to say the least.

They are a bit too zap happy on here at times .
They do it to prevent people spamming the site .Plus to try and prevent trolls . I suppose it does help to cut out some of that element but doesn't help us here in Q&P when quite often we post quickly within a short time frame .
Bung your concerns on Suggestions ...the Editor will have to look at it then ! Plus you may get some answers from others who have befallen the same fate !
I can vaguely remember seeing mention of this within
thread(s) on the AB suggestions section a while ago, from other ABers who were also mystified at this action.
I don't believe there was any satisfactory explanation at the time, although it was suggested that it probably applied to 3 separate questions rather than 3 answers within 5 minutes.
I too have been blocked, and only found out by referring to my profile, again without explanation. Consequently I doubt whether this communication will be posted. I fInd that when I press the submit button, the computer does not respond straight away, so I press the button again, and before you know it you've submitted 2 answers.

Thanks very much, Shaneystar and Sarumite. Very kind of you to reply. I might not mind so much if I knew what the occasion was, but - to quote - 'the Editorial team will not enter into discussion on why a user has been banned'. Thank you for the idea of putting it in Suggestions. I'll do that. I have asked at least twice for someone to tell me where the rule appears, but replies don't seem to be readily forthcoming.
Try posting all your questions on one entry. As far as I know there is no limit that way.
I am sure it only applies to questions. After it was last raised in suggestions (I think by dot.H) I was initially careful but got carried away about a week ago answering multiple questions in a thread. Before I knew it, I had given 5 answers within 5 minutes. I was not banned - hence my deduction that it only applies to starting threads.
How does Gen2 find five unanswered in five minutes? Must be very quick on the draw?

Many thanks, gen2 and POINCIANA.. I appreciate your help. The only question I've posed apart from this one was months ago, so it must be answers. A possible explanation could be a problem that I had a while ago, when I posted an answer, but it didn't appear. I kept trying to get it to go through. The attempts didn't appear on the site, but I found that they had in My Profile. Maybe they did register after all, and there were just too many. Other than that, it's not too difficult to be sending 3 or more postings inside 5 minutes, particularly if one of the sendings contains an error that has to be corrected. Thanks again.
Still being fairly new to the site - maybe not just new but slow on the uptake - can anyone explain what trolls an spam are?

Thanks, granny grump. I hope you'll get an answer. .
Just for interest, I put forward a suggestion about banning , but it has been removed. It's all a bit mysterious.
