Tonight my son and I decided to order in pizza. All was fine, then lucky me got the slice with the 'foreign object' in it. Can only describe it as what I think to be a small thin strip of metal, kind of like u get on a scourer. What I'd like to know is, should I ring them and tell them (bearing in mind I'm very unlikely to want pizza from them again!) , or is there a place where I can complain to properly, sending them the offending object?

Is it a big company like Pizza Hut? I would write to their Head Office but KEEP the object.

its called Super Pizza, I don't think that they are part of a chain ( living out in the sticks they were the only ones who'd deliver to us!). I've looked on the net to see if there are more, but it comes up with a blank page, and just a prompt to email!
i wud just b thankful you never ate it and leave it at that.....
Contact your local environmental health dept at your council. Someone else might get the same unless they are visited by EH to check out the problem.

yep, sounds like best idea. Then at least its down to them if they want to act on it or not. It might not seem like major thing, but if it was my 6year old that had swallowed it, who knows what might have happened????
And we say we don't want a nanny state! Mistakes do happen!
Phone them and tell them you have photos which you are sending to Environmetal Health. You will probably get a lot of free pizzas.

makemesmile- calm down, its just an enquiring question!! I know mistakes happen, I make enough of them myself!!! all i know is that i didnt cough up 12quid for metal in our pizza, and dont want some other poor kid to have misfortune of swallowing something similar.
makemesmile, they are supposed to have a food safety system in place to prevent this ever happening. This isn't Joe Public making it at home, they are a commercial operation with legal requirements they must follow.
Should you ever have food poisoning or choke on something you bought, remember "accidents happen!" ;)
Yes, accidents do happen - we are all human beings. We make mistakes.

We don't live in a perfect world where nothing goes wrong.

How we got to live in a 'where's there's blaim' society I never know, and I don't like it, but I'm sure you could tell me.
Oh and flossy74, I am quite calm, but thank you for your concern.

If you're really worried, then call them and inform them of what you've found. But don't you think contacting the Environmental Health is a bit strong?
If the physical contamination was a mistake which could have been resolved, then yes they should be reported to the EH. If however they have used "Due Diligence" and it was genuine mistake which was out of the pizza makers control , then the EH will make allowances. This could have been quite serious if it was eaten by someone less able than you.
Good grief....
If I were the manager/owner of the Pizza place, I would want to be made aware of the problem - that would give me the opportunity to correct it to avoid future problems.

I would make the manager aware and if he was not concerned I would contact the environmental health officer.
