If you've any experience of this I'd appreciate your opinion.

My kitchen cupboards are over 20 years and in very good condition.  The extra high wall cupboards are no longer sold.

The doors are solid wood and need a facelift.  Is vinyl wrap a good idea?

Yes - the frame and the centre panel have different rates of expansion with temperature and humidity so constantly move relative to each other. When we were planning our kitchen the builder who'd built our extension warned us about this and recommended we got doors with laminate-covered panels so the movement doesn't show (they're not stained and varnished like the frame so the movement doesn't reveal bare wood. Our bedroom wardrobe has pine doors and you can see the movement just where the panels meet the frame.
