I think it'd be fair to say that his career peaked early with his work on Cambodia. Who know maybe that's what turned him into the embittered anti-western fraud he undoubtedly was.

Was he pro-Putin or anti-Putin,was he pro-Hamas terrorists or was he against the Hamas terrorists?Anyone know?

He is on record as saying that Putin was the only European leader who had ever stood up to fascism or words to that effect.

He also did a notoriously one sided "documentary" "Palestine is still the issue" for ITV. He saw it as his duty to counterbalance what he saw as pro-Israeli  western bias, but this mission just turned him into another polemical propagandist. The best journalists give both sides: Pilger never attempted that and much of his reportage suffered for it.

I think he lived mostly in the UK latterly. 
He also defended Slobodan Milisevic, claiming he opposed ethnic cleaning and tried to get Karadzic and co to "stop it".

It was the Daily Mirror that unwittingly fell for his fake story about buying a young girl in Thailand in 1982 inspiring a new word in the OED: to "Pilger" - until he threatened to sue them. Revolting sanctimonious fraud he was
