Micorwave oven throwing a fit
3 Answers
My microwave oven (panasonic) is just out of its warranty period and is behaving oddly. On its standard setting which is its max power (600W), It starts up, but after 5 seconds of operation it dies down. At the lowest power setting (100W) it seems to run until about 15 seconds and then shuts down.
Obviously Panasonic isn't of any help. I thought the fuse might have blown so I opened the oven up and the fuse was sitting right on top so I was easily able to replace its 250V 10A fuse but this hasn't helped.
I wonder if I am looking at a common problem or something unique here. Suggestoins welcome.

see www.repairfaq.org They have notes on the trouble shooting and repair of various electrical things. Be warned - this info is to help you identify what the problem is so you can be armed with the info when you consult a technician.
Do not even THINK, let alone attempt, to go poking around inside the microwave even without the power on - there are capacitors there which hold a potentially lethal charge. Even skilled techies have been killed stone dead by these things.
