Boris’s latest wheeze trying to stop the covid inquiry obtaining his whatsapp messages is to claim that he has forgotten the password/code to his old iphone.

Perhaps Boris is unaware that the FBI know that Apple are able to overcome this problem, but in high profile legal cases have refused to do so, citing privacy concerns.

But since Boris has said on record that he is happy for the messages to be made available to the inquiry – all he (or the British government) has to do is ask Apple to unlock the phone.

He must know a phone can be accessed by people who know how. He was the Prime Minister for goodness sake. This is just daft.

WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted. It’s not just a case of hacking the phone.
